After a nice meal of crab cakes, salad and red wine, I hopped onto the table to conduct my interview with a very special friend, Almer Imamovic.
Name: Almer Imamovic
Born: Bosnia
Profession: Classical Guitarist
Website: AlmaNova
ELVIS:
You were born in Bosnia and started playing guitar at the age of seven. You must have many influences throughout your life. Who do you admire and respect currently for classical guitar and for composition?
Almer:
My amazing teacher Scott Tennant and David Russell, who I recently had a master class with. As far as composers go, I really like playing Joaquin Rodrigo.
ELVIS:
I’m really into music myself and like all varieties. I’m a big fan of Paco de Lucia and the mexican rock band, Mana’. Aside from classical music what might I find you listening to?
Almer:
Whitesnake
ELVIS:
Wow, that’s some hardcore stuff. I’d like to hear a classical version of, Cheap an’ Nasty.
So let’s move on to another one of my favorite topics…food. I’m a big fan of fish tacos and yes, on occasion I eat at Taco Bell, so what’s your favorite food?
Almer:
Bosnian burek.
ELVIS:
Huh? Gotta look that one up. A few minutes later…
(Burek are phyllo pastries with a variety of fillings like cheese and spinach)
It sounds chi-lightful!
Almer:
We gonna have you over sometime to try it!
ELVIS:
Roger That! Maybe we can try the Aroma Cafe sometime too. Umm…so who’s your favorite chihuahua?
Almer:
Is that a trick question? The KING of course!
ELVIS:
Good answer. So you must have a busy schedule with teaching and working on that doctorate. How do you relax?
Almer:
I love cigars but I have to try and quit. It’s getting a little out of hand.
ELVIS:
You certainly must have already lived an interesting life. A devastating war in your country, studying in Paris, performing around the world. Tell me a best moment of your life to date?
Almer:
Many, but most recently performing the Concierto de Aranjuez with the Sarajevo Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Neal Gittleman.
ELVIS:
You’re obviously a dog lover, and I noticed you admiring my shirt. Is there anything dogs should absolutely NOT be seen wearing?
Almer:
Shoes.
ELVIS:
I’m with you on that. Hey, one final question, maybe it keeps you up at night too…but who should Brad Pitt choose? I say, why not both?

Almer:
No, Jennifer Aniston for sure.
ELVIS:
The diplomatic answer. Your such a cool guy and I look forward to hanging out with you again soon!
Hvala vam!
